The IIC announces the new edition of the Leggiamoci Award. The project’s promoting committee consists of the Maria and Goffredo Bellonci Foundation, the Center for Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture, and BPER Banca. The project is promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Tirreno Power, 42Gradi-sustainable ideas by Vecchie Segherie Mastrototaro, and SYGLA.
The Award is open to the participation of girls and boys aged between 13 and 19, who can enter with either written stories or illustrated stories on any theme, unpublished and in the Italian language. The stories must meet the following requirements:
- The written story must be between 5,400 and 10,800 characters (including spaces). The story cannot be submitted by email but must be uploaded directly to the platform (https://leggiamoci.it/registrati/) through the user’s personal account.
- The illustrated story, created using any technique preferred by the author (comic, illustration, silent story, or other), must consist of at least one and a maximum of five panels, either created digitally or by hand. It should be sent via the email address used during registration on the platform to info@leggiamoci.it with the subject “Premio Leggiamoci 2025”. The email must include the username of the Leggiamoci account and the title of the story.
The illustrated story must meet these specifications: digital format .png or .jpg; A4 page size (vertical); recommended resolution 2480×3508 px (300 dpi).
The stories, whether written or illustrated, must be submitted by 12:00 PM on Friday, May 23, 2025.
The stories will be published on the Leggiamoci.it platform, where the editorial team will review and approve the texts over several business days. The submission date, through platform upload (written stories) or email (illustrated stories), determines eligibility for the Leggiamoci Award, not the publication date on the site.
The awards ceremony will take place at the beginning of June, during the ceremony for the Strega Giovani Award, a literary recognition promoted by the Maria and Goffredo Bellonci Foundation and the Strega Alberti company of Benevento, in collaboration with BPER Banca, the technical sponsor.
The Leggiamoci Editorial Team will contact the winners via the email provided during registration on the platform. If there is no response within three days of sending, the prizes will be awarded according to the ranking order.
The published stories will be read by a committee of experts who will select three stories judged to be the best.
The authors of the selected stories will win a handcrafted wooden pen made by SYGLA and participation in La Classe del Festival 42Gradi – sustainable ideas in Bisceglie (board, lodging, and participation in sustainability workshops covered by the organization).
The first-place winner will also receive a cash prize of €1,500, offered by BPER Banca.
