Luciano Pellicani

Event organized as part of the XXIV Week of Italian Language in the World: “Italian and the book: the world between the lines”
under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic.

Presentation of the Arabic translation of the book
“From the Sacred City to the Secular City” by Luciano Pellicani,
by Dr. Najem Bou Fadel, translator of the work.

This work, published by Dar El Farabi thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, constitutes an important publishing initiative and arose from the desire to make known and promote in the Arabic-speaking world a work whose theme is as timely as ever, in a geographical area where the sacred is still very much present in everyday life.

The XXIV edition (Oct. 14-20, 2024) of the SLIM has as its theme “Italian and the book: the world between the lines”, and aims to exploring the nexus between language and literature in the contemporary world, while enhancing the role of the book as a vehicle of Italian cultural heritage, values and identity.

The Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel mondo (SLIM) is an annual event, organized by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in collaboration with the main partners of language promotion in the territory. Since its inception in 2001, this event has received annually the High Patronage from the Presidency of the Republic, becoming over time the most important event dedicated to our language on a global scale. Each year, the Week is dedicated to a different theme, which serves as a common thread for a rich program of lectures, exhibitions and meetings.
