After a nearly five-year hiatus, the San Francesco di Paola International Opera Competition returns to Catanzaro from June 8 to 10, 2025, at the Politeama Theatre, celebrating its 17th edition. Organized by the Orfeo Stillo Musical Association and the Mediterranean Orchestra, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture and recognized among the “Historic Cultural Events” of the Calabria Region, the competition is open to opera singers of any nationality up to 35 years of age. With a jury composed of top-level professionals dedicated to promoting young talent, the event aims to offer real career opportunities through a total prize pool of €10,000, as well as numerous special prizes such as scholarships, masterclasses, artistic engagements, and concerts. The competition will conclude with a Gala evening featuring the final concert and the awards ceremony, in an event that celebrates not only young artists but also the Calabrian region and the rich heritage of Italian opera.
