Event organized as part of the XXIV Week of Italian Language in the World: “Italian and the book: the world between the lines”
under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic.

Presentation of the bilingual Italian/Arabic publication
“Book of the pleasure of those who yearn to cross horizons | The tale of Italian science”
published by the Italian Cultural Institute of Beirut and
presented by Arch. Fadlallah Dagher, Dean of the ALBA
Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts – University of Balamand

The book was born out of a desire to make the Italian language known in a particular nuance: that of science. Italy, besides being internationally recognized as an agent of beauty through art, also has a special role in the field of scientific research, where Italian creativity can be expressed in effective and tangible ways for the progress of all humanity.

The XXIV edition (Oct. 14-20, 2024) of the SLIM has as its theme “Italian and the book: the world between the lines”, and aims to exploring the nexus between language and literature in the contemporary world, while enhancing the role of the book as a vehicle of Italian cultural heritage, values and identity.

The Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel mondo (SLIM) is an annual event, organized by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in collaboration with the main partners of language promotion in the territory. Since its inception in 2001, this event has received annually the High Patronage from the Presidency of the Republic, becoming over time the most important event dedicated to our language on a global scale. Each year, the Week is dedicated to a different theme, which serves as a common thread for a rich program of lectures, exhibitions and meetings.
