From the 13th to the 20th of November 2022, the VII Edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will be held all over the world. It is a showcase for Italy and Italian taste in the world, created in 2016 by MAECI to promote Italian culinary traditions and knowledge in oenology as a distinctive trait of Italian identity and culture. The main theme of this year’s event is “Conviviality, sustainability and innovation: the ingredients of Italian cuisine for people’s health and the protection of the planet“.
In line with this theme, the Italian Cultural Institute of Beirut presents four documentaries – made by Stefilm as part of the “Food Markets” series – on the markets of Turin, Florence, Palermo and Cagliari, and which illustrates well that we all are what we eat!
City food markets provide a great variety of local, genuine and fresh food to a huge number of people living in the city. FOOD MARKETS explores the places where Italian quality food is produced, through the markets that sell it. With the help of producers, vendors and chefs, these films illustrate how food production is changing from quantitative to qualitative. Each episode has many stories, with a protagonist producing, selling, preparing and cooking typical food, produced in a sustainable way.
Markets attract with their colors, liveliness, smells, people, sounds and flavors. This extraordinary diversity of people and products gives the idea of the richness of the place and satisfies all the senses. Contact with food electrifies the taste buds. At the market, we discover what is in season and what the territory can offer us.
Turin, Florence, Palermo and Cagliari all have a special market in their heart and with “Food Markets” we enter into the secrets of each of them.
The films will be made available for viewing at a rate of one film per week and for a duration of 12 hours only (from 11:00 to 23:00, Lebanese time) as per the following calendar:
