December 16 will be the first National Space Day, a recognition of the fact that this domain deserves a dedicated day, in which space will also be discussed in different contexts than the usual one, in order to bring citizens even closer to this world.

Established with a directive from the President of the Council of Ministers, the Day aims to celebrate the launch of the first Italian satellite, San Marco 1, which took place on December 15th, 1964, Thanks to it, Italy was among the first countries in the world to defeat the earth’s atmosphere. Since then, Italy has carried out many space firsts and has become one of the main players on the international scene.
