The Italian Cultural Institute and the Abdallah Ghanem Cultural Center of Baskinta are organizing an exhibition and a conference on Dante and his famous work, the Divine Comedy.

The “Dante Plus 700 Beirut Edition” exhibition comprises 28 unconventional portraits of Dante Alighieri, drawn by established Italian artists active in the fields of design, graphics, comics, street-art, graphic novel, etc. The exhibition is a selection of works from “Uno, nessuno e 150 volti” [One, no one and 150 faces], a gallery of portraits presented at the Oriani Library in Ravenna in July 2021. The portraits are made by well-known artists including Blub, Madkine, Milo Manara, Alessandro Pautasso, Enrico Rambaldi, Van Orton Design. A number of these portraits involve an animation, visible on mobile devices through the ARIA app, on Android and iOS.

The conference will be held by Dr. Caterina Carlini, Lecturer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who is in charge of Italian studies at the Language and Translation Center of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the Lebanese University. Dr. Carlini will present Dante, his life and his work in a session addressed to the general public of the region.
