World premiere of the musical drama in four scenes written by Bartolomeo Pirone, for the celebrations of the eighth hundred anniversary (1219-2019) of the meeting between St. Francis and Sultan al-Malek al-Kāmel in Damietta, Egypt.
Due to the difficulties related to the pandemic, only now does this musical work have the opportunity to be performed in public.
The libretto is by Bartolomeo Pirone, former full professor of Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arab-Islamic and Mediterranean Studies of the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, and guest professor at the Pontifical Institute of Arab Studies and of Islam of Rome.
The music is by Father Khalil Rahme, composer and director of the Music School of Notre Dame University in Lebanon.
The concerts will be held as follows:
- Beirut on November 6 at 8 pm in the Church of St. Elia in Minet El Hosn-Kantari
- Tripoli on November 7 at 6 pm in the Church of St. Maroun.
