The Ministry of Culture (MiC) – Center for Books and Reading, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM) – Directorate General for Students, Inclusion and School Orientation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) – Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy – promotes the Sixth Edition of the National Idea Award “BookTuberPrize”, as part of initiatives aimed at the circulation and knowledge of literature and books among adolescents.
Booktubers read books, talk about them and share them; they make their favorite readings known by recording videos that are uploaded on the web: they are “video-bloggers” active in the field of publishing. Inspired by these new professional figures, the Center for Books and Reading’s Competition is aimed, starting this year, at boys and girls from 11 to 21 years old, who may participate in agreement with their educational institution in Italy and abroad, or autonomously from it. The intention is not only to encourage the exchange and circulation of books, but also to stimulate the careful and conscious reading of a book and then to originate a review from it, thus developing a critical thinking.
This year’s edition offers a choice of four thematic categories:
– fiction: review of a novel by an Italian writer(s) published between 2000 and present days;
– poetry: review of a poetry collection published between 2000 and present days;
– illustrated album: review of an illustrated album by an Italian author/writer published between 2000 and present days;
– graphic novel/comic book: review of an illustrated book by an Italian author/author published between 2000 and present days.
Participants, after choosing and reading a book or a poetry collection, should describe its content through a video review of max 2 minutes in mp4 format. The video can be made by one, two or three people.
Only books in Italian, written by Italian authors and published by Italian publishers in the indicated time frame can be chosen.
The language to be used for the review is Italian.
One may enter the Contest by submitting only one entry per participant (single, pair or trio).
More information and a video tutorial with useful suggestions for making the video review can be found at this link: https://cepell.it/premio-booktuberprize/
Participation in the Contest is free of charge and entries must be submitted by 1 p.m. local time on May 31st, 2024.
To participate, please fill out the forms attached to the Rules.
Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM) – Directorate General for Students, Inclusion and School Orientation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) – Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy.
