2026 CALL FOR AWARDS AND GRANTS FOR THE TRANSLATION OF LITERARY AND SCIENTIFIC WORKS

Call for Book Publishers, Translators, Film Production and Distribution Companies, Literary Agencies, and Cultural Entities!

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched the 2026 call for grants and prizes supporting the international promotion of Italian books and audiovisual works.

The programme encourages the translation and publication of Italian fiction and non-fiction books, including digital editions, and supports the production, dubbing, and subtitling of films, short films, and TV series for mass media distribution, with the aim of strengthening the global presence of the Italian language and culture.

Grants may be requested for works to be published or released from 1 July 2026 onwards, while prizes are available for books already translated, published, or released since 1 January 2025.

For 2026, the Ministry plans to award up to 10 prizes of €5,000 each, including one dedicated to works in the Arabic language.

Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2026 through the relevant Italian Embassy and, where applicable, the Italian Cultural Institute.

A great opportunity to promote the global reach of Italian literature, thought, and audiovisual productions across languages, countries, and audiences!
