Oursounds is the title of the sixth edition of the Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy: a return to the roots of the Accademia Chigiana’s tradition to look to the future, starting from the meaning of the sounds and the musical creations, which are born in the most difficult moments crossed by humanity. From July 5 to September 3, the festival will present 3 sections, 18 live events and 22 shows from the archives of the Accademia Chigiana, all of which will be transmitted for the first time in digital version.
Online from the Archive is the section of the Digital Festival, articulated in two lines of programming: Opera online, dedicated to historical recordings of musical theatrical works staged by the Accademia Chigiana, with 6 titles on the program; Legends online, dedicated to symphonic, chamber and traditional music concerts, performed over the last three years and never transmitted to date, with 16 events that can be followed on the Accademia Chigiana YouTube channel.
The webradio of the Festival, ChigianaRadioArte, hosts historical concerts – given by great performers and recorded at the Chigiana during the 80s and 90s – as well as contemporary works, all of which will be transmitted in streaming and grouped under the label Legends On Air.
ChigianaRadioArte is also the main player of the special project Beyond the silence, music at the time of the pandemic, proposed by the Chigiana in collaboration with Inner Room, which gathers composers and sound artists at the international level around the effects of the pandemic on musical creativity related to technologies. Among the participants, we find some of the leading personalities of the musical and creative scene nowadays, such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Gene Coleman, Patrizio Fariselli, Stefano Giannotti, Alipio Carvalho Neto, Enzo Favata and many others.
Thanks to its collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Oursounds is promoted worldwide through the network of Italian Cultural Institutes.
