Missa Solemnis for St. Cecilia – Charles Gounod

11th BEIRUT CHANTS FESTIVAL 2018

This year Beirut Chants celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Gounod with his St. Cecilia Mass, organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute.
St. Cecilia is the common name of a solemn Mass composed by Gounod in 1855 and scored for three soloists, mixed choir, orchestra and organ. The official name is Messe solennelle en l’honneur de Sainte-Cécile, in homage of Santa Cecilia the patron saint of music.
