The exhibition “Icons of Italian Design” wants to provide a reasonably representative anthology of the main brands and trends in Italian design, in a period covering more than ninety years, that is, from the 1920s to the present century.
Italian design has grown out of the legacy of Italian artists and artisans of the early Italian renaissance (end of the 13th century), who could produce objects of both practical use and great beauty. The architects and designers of Italian brands still possess nowadays this unique ability to adapt the Renaissance ideal of beauty to the objects in use in modern, industrial societies. The pieces of furniture and lighting exhibited are from Fontana Arte, Artemide, Zanotta, Lodola, Kartell, Floss, Stoppino, Poggi, Castellani & Smith, Zompi, La Murrina.
