We are pleased to share news of a unique international event coming to Beirut.
The Sub_Bar Show, a pioneering project conceived by Italian artist Spaggiari, explores the human body as a resonant space for sound. Utilizing air pressure, subwoofers, and low-frequency vibration, this immersive format engages both Deaf and hearing audiences alike, creating a shared sensory experience that transcends traditional listening.
Since its inception in 2021 between Lisbon and Berlin, The Sub_Bar Show has trained and featured the first generation of Deaf artists performing alongside established musicians. In 2025, it embarks on a global tour across the United States, Australia, China, India, and more than 25 cities worldwide.
We are proud to note that Beirut is among this select list of host cities, with Zico House as the chosen venue for this milestone event.
📍 Location: Zico House, Spears Street, Sanayeh – Beirut
📅 Date: April 25, 2025
🕖 Time: 7:00 PM
While we are not involved in this event, we warmly encourage our community to attend and experience this extraordinary initiative – an important step forward in inclusive and body-centered sound art.
The Sub_Bar Show: Beyond listening, the revolution is “touch”
After four years of exploration, refinement, and bold experimentation, Eufonia presents The Sub_Bar Show, a compositional format for the body. Conceived by Italian founder and creative director of Sub_Bar, Francesco Spaggiari, this innovative format has been developed since 2021 in collaboration with a wide international network of Deaf and hearing artists.
Music has long been a format for the ears, with its symbols, its rules, its revolutions, its harmony, its diversity. Around 60 years ago, the experience of music was enriched with a physical dimension through the use of subwoofers—massive speakers that transform the lowest sounds into air vibrations perceivable with the body. So far, so clear.
Now, try to tell artists that they can’t compose using only subwoofers; try to tell them that music is only made of scales and tonal harmony; tell them that moving away from the sounds you can hear and focusing on the vibrations you can feel is not enough to inspire a community to dream as one. Yet, Sub_Bar’s value lies precisely in this shift: to surrender once again to the intimacy of touch, rediscovering one’s own body without the anchor of sound and its demand for attention.
Through these years of exploration, refinement, and bold experimentation, Eufonia, alongside a pioneering list of international hearing and Deaf artists, presents The Sub_Bar Show: a compositional format for the body, an experience in the liminal space between silence and air pressure, and a musical language that goes beyond sound.
Starting in April this year, venues worldwide will have access to a new type of remote audiovisual show, first monthly then weekly, based on an exclusive collection of music designed for low subwoofers. Eufonia’s ever-expanding catalog features compositions from artists who have left a mark on today’s generation of clubbers like Petre Inspirescu, Terence Fixmer, Perc, Reboot, and Efdemin, alongside rising electronic music talents such as Sara Persico, Filipe Baptista, and Alexander Tillegreen. Interdisciplinary researchers like Portrait XO, Stefanie Egedy, and Pawel Janicki further expand the sonic landscape. Contributions from classical music are also present, with John Kameel Farah, Oströl, and Francisco Nogueira bringing their distinct perspectives. The catalog also includes works from sound artists such as Felicity Mangan, Daisuke Ishida, and Amma Ateria, as well as ambient excursionists like Roberto Musci, Ana Bogner, and Rita Silva—each contributing with their poetry and artistic research.
The premiere of The Sub_Bar Show will be played in April, in a maximum of one venue per city, with events planned (so far) across the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, South America and China.
Zico House is proud to be part of this visionary project and honored to have been selected as one of the few venues worldwide – and the first in Beirut – to host The Sub-Bar Show #1.
