Exhibition and Conference “ Montefeltro Project: Italian Renaissance Sights – The Balconies of Piero della Francesca” • Exhibition (bilingual (ita/eng.) consisting of illustrative panels of Piero’s Balconies. • Conference “Looking for the landscapes of Piero della Francesca” by Dr. Maria Cristina Turchi, Responsible for the Cultural Promotion Abroad at the Department of Culture of the Emilia-Romagna Region; THE MONTEFELTRO AREA The area, known during the Renaissance as Montefeltro, belongs today to the Province of Rimini and to the Province of Pesaro-Urbino. The MRS (Montefeltro Renaissance Sights) project aims at shedding light on an “invisible landscape”, at unveiling those “art places” that Renaissance painters chose as background landscapes for their paintings. PIERO DELLA FRANCESCA’S BALCONIES The project, managed and promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and Marche Region, was born thanks to an amazing discovery made by Rosetta Borchia and Olivia Nesci. It aims at offering visitors a unique and unprecedented experience: entering a real art place. The balconies are panoramic and cultural viewpoints, scattered between the Romagna and the Marche Regions, in the Montefeltro area. They balconies are easily accessible and provide visitors with detailed information on each art landscape.
