From the transformation of the Expo Milano 2015 site into MIND – Milano Innovation District: a concrete case of large-scale reconversion, public–private governance and community activation, with lessons applicable to complex contexts.

The MIND – Milano Innovation District project was born with the aim of transforming and enhancing the site of Expo Milano 2015, defining a new development vision for the entire area, which spans over one million square meters.

This initiative led to the creation of an innovation district and a new city neighborhood: a project with strong international ambitions, strategic for the entire country, developed in partnership with private entities. These partners contribute their expertise as intermediaries between institutions and private stakeholders, working to bring value to strategic areas in need of regeneration by transforming them into vibrant, well-maintained places.
