8th BAFF | “PASOLINI 100” IN BEIRUT | FILM “ACCATTONE”

Screening of the film “Teorema” by Pier Paolo Pasolini, 1968, 97′, OV/ sub. Eng.

The film will be followed by a 60-minute conference entitled “Karl, Sigmund and Jesus are on a boat” by Rabih Haddad (Fr./sub. Eng.)

A telegram is sent to a rich family of the Milanese bourgeoisie announcing to its members the imminent arrival of a strange visitor. When this visitor, a young man, handsome and mysterious, almost mute, arrives in the house, he begins to have sexual relations with the father, Paolo, the mother, Lucia, the children, Pietro and Odetta and Emilia, the servant. This encounter upsets the fate of the family, which will never be the same from then on…

Teorema, as a film that shows tidy lives that deviate, could be similar to this mysterious formula: does the divine annunciation that meets the bourgeoisie always lead to the profane, both poetic and political?
