In Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birth anniversary (Bonn, 16 December 1770 – Wien, 26 March 1827) the Carlo Felice Foundation of Genoa stages the rare performance of Beethoven’s only ballet piece, proposed in a suggestive and unusual combination: The Creatures of Prometheus / The Creatures of Capucci. The project is a formidable encounter of arts, celebrating the creative genius of two historical protagonists as distant in time as close in inspiration. On the one hand, Ludwig van Beethoven with his only dance score: the two-act ballet The Creatures of Prometheus (Die Geschöpfe des Prometheus) op. 43, commissioned by the Imperial Theater of Vienna and choreographed by Salvatore Viganò that debuted at the Burgtheater in 1801. On the other, Roberto Capucci, master of international haute couture, a style innovator capable of making clothes communicate with nature, art and architecture, protagonist with a series of strong visual impact sketches, recently presented in the exhibition “Capucci Dionisiaco. Drawings for the Theater” at the Uffizi in Florence. […]
In 2020, the Carlo Felice Foundation of Genoa pays homage to the musical genius of Ludwig van Beethoven with a staged concert curated by Daniele Cipriani LE CREATURE DI PROMETEO / LE CREATURE DI CAPUCCI, an unprecedented encounter of music and high fashion. On the occasion of the concert, performed by the Orchestra of the Carlo Felice Theater and accompanied by the scenic movements of Simona Bucci, the production gives life to the exceptional creation of 15 costumes from the original sketches by Roberto Capucci exhibited in 2018 at the Uffizi in Florence: a surprising repertoire of men´s costumes inspired by the idea of a dreamlike staging.
Music and high fashion blend together, in a double and original tribute to the creative genius and imaginative power of art.
